Baseball: Dayton advances past Whippany Park into North 2, Group 1 quarterfinals

Jon Rodrigues drove in two runs for fourth-seeded Dayton in its 6-3 win over 13th-seeded Whippany Park at home on Monday.

Frank Dasti and Kieran Conway recorded multi-hit games in the victory. Dayton scored four runs in the second inning to grab early control. Chris Rodrigues allowed three earned runs on three hits in five innings to earn the win on the mound.

Dayton will host fifth-seeded New Providence in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs defeated New Providence, 11-1, in their second game of the season this year and last season, 4-3, in the semifinals of the Union County Tournament.
