The Dayton boys cross country team finished second in Central Jersey, Group 1 meet on Saturday at Thompson Park.
Senior Colin Riley won the Central Jersey, Group 1 race for the third time in his career, which is the most cross country sectional titles in Dayton program history. Riley was also the first athlete in Union County history to break 16 minutes on the famed Warinaco dual course when he finished fifth last week.
Riley will defend his Group 1 Championship on Saturday at Holmdel Park and will be joined by seniors Gatzlen Derival, Connor Nguyen and Allan Jean-Baptiste, juniors Sahan Alles and Juan Diego Cisneros and freshman Elliot Reines.
The girls cross country team qualified as a team for the Group 1 Championship for the ninth year in a row. Claudia Reines, coming off her individual conference Valley Championship and a top six finish in the Union County Championship, finished third in the sectional race.
Junior AiVy Vu ran a personal best 5K to finish 20th. Rounding out the girls top seven are Talulah Whelan, Ikshita Nair, Anoushka Nair and Mikayla Milos.
